Moon river

I hope to introduce one of my favorite songs, Moon river.

It was an original song of the 1961 movie Breakfast at Tiffany's.

In the movie,  Audrey Hepburn sang this song on her guitar.

It won the 1962 Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Mercer the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. After this song had a huge hit and was nominated, Andy williams who was supposed to sing this song at the presentation ceremony recorded it quickly and made an album at the same day as the ceremony which also made a hit. After that, it had been recorded by famous singers like Jerry Butler, Louis Armstrong, Pierino Ronald Como, Frank Sinatra Judy Garland.

This is Audrey Hepburn singing Moon river in Breakfast at Tiffany's.  

Holy(Audrey Hepburn) is living in an apartment in New york, dreaming to be upwardly mobile by hanging out with rich men. One day Paul(George Peppard) move in the same apartment of Holy and they come to know each other. Paul is mesmerized by her free spirit but Holy yearns for the upper class, escaping from poor reality.

This movie depicts their same and different values and the ways of life with some episodes.

From the beginning of the film, the differently arranged ‘Moon river’s keep flowing fitted into the atmosphere.

This is Andy Williams’. Very classic.

This is Frank Sinatra's.

 He is well known for his song, My way.

There is an interesting episode when the title ‘Moon river’ was made. After the writer Mancini made this song, he went to see John Herndon Mercer to ask him to write a lyric for the song. 

Mercer was pleased with the song and wrote the lyric. 
When they were making a title, June river , Blue river, Red river were considered 
but Moon river was finally selected. 

This is bugge weseltoft’s Moon river piano play which I like the most. 

The previous ‘Moon river’s were light and romantic but this play has deep and blue emotion.   

This is Naomi & Goro’s Moon river. This singer has a pure and transparent voice.

I think this voice is well fitted to the mood of Moon river.

Self introduction ~ Hi I'm wonjin

I'm living in Seoul of South korea.

Although Seoul is not my hometown, I like being here.

I especially like Jongro which is at north of Seoul.

because I love old things. Jongro still has the atmosphere of the old days.

I like touching wood, hearing old songs and climbing mountains and walking in old palaces.

 



 

 

 

This is one of the images of Jongro.

But Seoul is constantly changing into New place.

New things are filling seoul.

 

This is a new structure made in Dongdaemun of seoul.

Dongdaemun is one of the traditional and historical places of seoul

But I think this structure spoils the mood of there.

I wish old things last long.

And I think that's why I like the word 'Eternity'.
